This departure was confirmed through social media posts made by Twitter users who pour out tributes, and condolences to the family of the deceased.

LYNIKA STROZIER, young and accomplished scientist at the Field Museum in Chicago, died June 7 from Coronavirus complications at 35 years of age.
Lynika Strozier was a researcher in the DNA lab at the Field Museum with masters degrees in sciences from two Chicago universities. She was laborious and demanding in her lab work, which was her passion. Loved by all who knew her, she was joyful and loved the fun times with friends, when her scientific work allowed.
“This is a big, big place,” stated Matt von Konrat, her supervisor for more than a decade at the Field Museum. “And she would walk through the halls, with her long stride, and always, always, a smile and hello for everyone. For all of us, for strangers, it didn’t matter.”

Lynika Strozier was an accomplished woman of science in Chicago, despite learning disabilities and family problems. Strozier died June 7 from COVID-19 complications at age 35.


Lynika Strozier overcame a severe learning disability to become a scientist with “golden hands” who delicately extracted the DNA of early plants, ants and birds. Most recently, she began teaching at Malcolm X College in Chicago.
