Lyft driver shot and injured in southeastern DC, car stolen

DC police are investigating after a Lyft driver was shot and his vehicle stolen in southeastern DC overnight by an unknown suspect.

Police say the driver picked up a passenger near Stanton Road and Suitland Parkland just about midnight, at a point the unidentified suspect shot the driver in the shoulder and stole his 2019 black Volkswagen Jetta, and fled to an unknown destination.

The unidentified driver was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No suspect description was immediately provided, and it is not immediately known if the victims provided any details of the suspect person.

Officials also responded to a shooting report at the 3000-block on Stanton Road SE at about 6 p.m.
