was a good man. He gave this to me before the team unveiled its logo. He promised me I would know before anyone else and he honored his word and signed this as proof to give my dad. I was so proud. Deeply saddened to hear of his passing.

So sad to learn that longtime baseball friend Lou Schwechheimer has passed away due to complications from Covid-19. Lou was principal owner of the

, having started his career as an intern in Pawtucket. His positive attitude and optimism were infectious. RIP Lou.


The loss of Lou Schwechheimer is much larger than just a loss to baseball. I have never met anyone so upbeat; so eager to tackle something new; so happy to be here.
Now he is not.
So take this damned virus seriously, and keep my dear friend Lou and his family in your thoughts.


We were devastated to learn of the passing of Lou Schwechheimer. Lou may have been a recent newcomer to Wichita but few could surpass his energy, enthusiasm and instant love for the City. We extend our deepest sympathies to Lou’s family and the entire

Lou Schwechheimer dedicated the last years of his life to help improve Wichita and central Kansas and brought America’s favorite pastime back to Wichita. My prayers are with his family and the entire Wichita community.

We are still working on getting more details about the death, as family statement on the death is yet to be released.
