24-year-old man killed in auto-pedestrian accident in Costa Mesa

A 24-year-old man has lost his life in a fatal car accident that happened on Thursday morning. The accident happened around 2:35 a.m. on Newport Boulevard, south of 17th Street, in Costa Mesa.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the man was walking on foo on Newport Boulevard, south of 17th Street when he was fatally struck and killed northbound car traveling on Newport Boulevard, south of 17th Street. The man sustained blunt force trauma injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The driver of the car that struck the car remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

No other detail was regarding the incident was made known. The crash remains under investigation.

The South Coast Metro is a district in Orange County, California within the cities of Santa Ana and Costa Mesa. The area is a dense mix of residential, office, and retail developments that spreads out from the South Coast Plaza mall. It forms part of the South Coast Plaza–John Wayne Airport edge city, a concentration of business, shopping, and entertainment outside a traditional central business district.
