Lana has been a huge supporter and friend of us here at GRASS Cliftonville. At each of our events she volunteered and took the most amazing photographs and really brought our community events to life with her talent.
Lana was actively involved in organisating the GRASS children’s Christmas party and always said that capturing the smilies and excitement on the kids faces made her day.

Yesterday, photographer Lana Vanzetta tragically died following a fall.
Since 2015, she had owned and managed Margate House. It was the fact that the old Burton’s store was a landmark building that first attracted Yanzetta to the site. After a four year hunt for the perfect location, in 2015 she announced plans for the site, and started the work to convert the building into what was originally called Artoptikon.
She changed the name and Margate House opened as an art gallery and performance space in September 2015, after a lengthy refurbishment. The plan was that as Margate House developed, it would provide facilities for arts education, training, workshops and other arts-based projects.
In the first year, it hosted photography exhibitions, theatre shows, and live music. Since then it has partnered with the Theatre Royal to hold pre-show talks, been part of the Margate Festival, was a venue for the first POW Thanet, and supported Fotofest Margate. Vanzetta had a particular interested in two separate themes, refugees and mental health, and many events reflected these interests.
In recent years, the ground floor space has been home to clothes store Ruskin, with a popular yoga studio upstairs.
Late last year, Yanzetta announced that she was planning to use space behind the building to create a new community garden.
Lana sadly died from injuries suffered following a fall from an upper window of her building, Margate House. She leaves behind a son.
Art gallery owner dies in fall from building: The woman who died after falling from a high street building yesterday has been named locally as Lana Vanzetta.
We are still working on getting more details about the death, as family statement on the death is yet to be released.
