Katherine Reyes, a 20-year-old girl, tragically died in a fatal crash involving an intoxicated driver on the 495 South Highway while waiting for her grandmother to change a flat tire. The drunk driver has been identified as Devon Lesesne, according to Ana Maria.
According to Brenda Lemus, Katherine’s aunty, Katherine was parked on the right shoulder due to car problems with her hazard lights on and flares behind her car for safety when Devon came speeding down Southbound 495 while under the influence on the right shoulder.
Reportedly, Devon crashed right into the parked car causing a fatal explosion in which Katherine died. Ana, in a Facebook post, has sought justice. “Today my family and I are mourning destroyed asking for justice. Help me to get justice and to be punished according to the law. Thank you,” she wrote
A GoFundMe fundraiser has been set up to help the grieving family. At this time, $1,495 has been realised out of the $20,000 target.
Devon, the suspect in the crash, is a member of DC Young Democrats who was recently elected commissioner in a unanimous vote, according to the DCYD announcement.
