Sadly I took note of Joke Kersten’s passing. Former mayor of Grubbenvorst and Broekhuizen. A beautiful woman with whom I had beautiful conversations in and about the Rozenhof in Lottum. A woman who helped ensure that Lottum’s (killed Polish) Rosegirl could be reburied after many years at home in Poland after the murder was solved. Joke, thanks for those lovely conversations. Thanks for letting me know you. You can rest now. R.I.P. Joke…

With great sadness we have taken note of the passing of Joke Kersten. Joke has been very important for our beautiful party and her important ideals. Among other things, as a member of the Tweede Kamer and as mayor of the former municipality of Grubbenvorst and the former municipality of Broekhuizen.
But most of all, we lose an incredibly hard working Grubbenvorstenaar. Joke, until the last day you were committed to, among others, the foundation Kombij, the Woonzorg initiative Sans Soucis, the Rozenhof in Lottum and countless other initiatives. In addition, you were a woman who stayed active to help our group and our aldermen develop our vision and our plans.
You fought that terrible disease and seemed to have won. Until you had to go back to the hospital a few weeks ago. The suffering has been spared for you. What remains is emptiness and sadness. But above all, a lot of respect, admiration and appreciation for everything you’ve done, and for the human you were!
Joke, thanks for everything. We will miss you
We are still working on getting more details about the death, as family statement on the death is yet to be released.
