Having heard about this great loss, the family of this individual is passing through pains, mourning the unexpected passing of their beloved.

This departure was confirmed through social media posts made by Twitter users who pour out tributes, and condolences to the family of the deceased.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sergeant John Previti. Sgt. Previti passed away after a courageous battle against cancer for the last six years.

Sgt. Previti was a graduate from Suffolk University, began his career as a Security Officer for the Suffolk University Police Department. He was promoted to a Patrol Officer in 2005, and graduated from the Massachusetts Special Police Officer Academy (SSPO) Class#16. He continued his way through the Department ranks, becoming a Sergeant in 2008. In 2016, Sgt. Previti received an Outstanding Personal Contribution Award from the Massachusetts Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (MACLEA).

Sgt. Previti was a consummate leader and a tenacious investigator who assisted countless numbers of students, faculty, and staff throughout his career. He was compassionate and committed to the mission of the Department and to the University. The Department is a better organization because of Sgt. Previti’s leadership, dedication, and professionalism. Our thoughts are with the Previti Family, and to all who knew and loved him. Funeral arrangements are forthcoming.

The Medford Police Department is saddened to hear of the passing of Suffolk University Police Sergeant John Previti after a years long battle with cancer.

Sergeant Previti was a graduate of Medford High School and Medford resident. Thank you Sergeant for your service. RIP

We are still working on getting more details about the death, as family statement on the death is yet to be released.
