John Byers Death – Dead: A great loss was made known to InsideEko. As friends and families of the deceased are mourning the passing of their loved and cherished John Byers.

Having heard about this great loss, the family of this individual is passing through pains, mourning the unexpected passing of their beloved.

This departure was confirmed through social media posts made by Twitter users who pour out tributes, and condolences to the family of the deceased.

John Mark Byers sadly died last night in a car accident in Millington, Tennessee. He was the father of Christopher Byers, one of three children murdered in West Memphis in 1993 which led to the conviction of the WM3. A huge character who later campaigned for their release…

Very sad. He lived a troubled life and he certainly wasn’t a good person a lot of the time, but I get the sense that he did make genuine attempts to better himself these past 10-15 years. I certainly no longer believe he was the real killer..

John Mark Byers passed away this week at the age of 62 — tragedy haunted this family. Byers was the stepfather of Chris Byers, one of 3 second graders along with Stevie Branch & Michael Moore who were murdered in #WestMemphisArkansas for which the #WestMemphisThree were wrongfully convicted and spent over 18 years in prison and #deathrow We took quite a #journey with #JohnMarkByers over two decades of making the Paradise Lost Trilogy, from an intense filmmaker/subject relationship in which we were confronted with all sorts of ethical, aesthetic and philosophical debates about the nature and purpose of #documentary #filmmaking, which included being given a bloody knife by Byers and how to deal with it; to a relationship of mutual suspicion to eventually one of friendship and mutual respect. Thankfully, he came around to our point of view that the #WM3 were innocent and really did his part to help free @damienechols, #JasonBaldwin and #JesseMisskelley for which he deserves our deep gratitude. #RIPJohnMarkByers — he is perhaps the most controversial and fascinating film subject that I will ever encounter… Here are five photos that span the 2 decades making the 3 Paradise Lost films for @hbo : 1) Nov. 1993 target practice a few months before the 1994 trials in which Byers shot pumpkins that were effigies of the #WM3 ; 2) Melissa Byers, Mark Byers and Terry Hobbs awaiting the verdict on March 18, 1994; 3) The next day, March 19, 1994 after Echols is sentenced to death and Baldwin sentenced to life without parole 4) Near the entrance of #RobinHoodHills during the shooting of #ParadiseLost2 (released in 2000) and 5) During the shooting of @ParadiseLost3 in 2010, with me and Bruce Sinofsky. The first 3 photos are by me and the last 2 by #dp @b._lost The making of the #paradiselosttrilogy was my wake up call about the scourge of #wrongfulconviction and the need for #criminaljusticereform , themes that resonate even more strongly today — and Byers was a big part of that journey. Finally, let me take this moment to send my love and #fathersday greetings to the Sinofsky clan who I know are missing their #father today, and my deep condolences to the Byers family.

Saw that John Mark Byers died yesterday. Really awful way to go. That man I felt showed the world something we never thought was capable after seeing Paradise Lost 2 and I admired his conviction to do justice for the WM3. Rest in peace..

We are still working on getting more details about the death, as family statement on the death is yet to be released.
