Jim Ramstad Death – Obituary | Congressman Jim Ramstad Dead – Passed Away

Jim Ramstad Death – Dead: A great loss was made known to InsideEko. As friends and families of the deceased are mourning the passing of their loved and cherished Jim Ramstad.

So grateful for the life and legacy of Jim Ramstad. An incredible mentor for me, and friend to literally everyone. A true model of a selfless public servant. Well done, good and faithful servant. #Bipartisan #Pragmatic #Commonsense #RamstadTeam

Former #MN03 Congressman Jim Ramstad has passed away at 74. He served with principle and grace for almost two decades, and left a remarkable legacy in our community, our state, and our country. May his memory be for a blessing, and my love and condolences to Kathryn and family.

Jim Ramstad was a good person and a good public servant. He always took time to say hi even though I was a Jr Dem staffer. A passionate advocate for recovery services and ending stigma and discrimination against mental health issues, and wrong about tax policy. He’ll be missed.

I was privileged to call Jim Ramstad my Congressman both when I lived with my parents during his 1st term, and later when my wife and I bought our 1st house in Maple Grove. Just an all-around good guy. He will be missed. RIP Rammer

Deeply saddened by the passing of my dear friend Jim Ramstad, whose election to Congress gave him the title “honorable,” but whose fine character and exemplary life made him much deserving of it. “Well done thou good and faithful servant.” We will miss you.

I am one of the many people who had their political career start as an intern for Congressman Jim Ramstad. His legacy will live on through all of the lives he shaped, guided, and touched. He will be missed.

RIP to Jim Ramstad. A big name in Minnesota, though folks outside might not have known him as well.

You have, almost certainly though, felt the impact of his persistent & laudable focus on addiction and mental health issues while in the Congress.

Smart, kind, respectful, hard working, caring, all words you could use to describe Jim Ramstad. His willingness to talk about his own challenges and help tens of millions struggling with mental illness or chemical addiction is a wonderful legacy.

Minnesota lost a great public servant tonight. Former GOP Congressman Jim Ramstad passed away after a lengthy illness. He was a rare breed of politician who could work with Democrats and Republicans. He served the 3rd District from 1991-2009 and served the MN Senate from 1981-91.

@GOP @gtconway3d @senatemajldr @GOPLeader @SpeakerPelosi Jim Ramstad was a pretty good guy. A very compassionate conservative that was know for being able to reach across the aisle. We need more folks like Jim in Congress today. RIP Congressman Ramstad.

Former Minnesota Congressman Jim Ramstad has died. He was 74 and had been in failing health.

Served in Congress from 1991 to 2009. He served as an #mnleg state senator the decade before that.

He was known for his work on addiction/recovery/mental health issues and tax policy.

Deeply saddened with the news of the passing of Congressman Jim Ramstad. He was the epitome of a public servant and truly cared for people. I’m so grateful for the opportunity I had to intern and work for him, I learned from the best. Rest In Peace Congressman.

So sad to hear of the passing of Congressman Jim Ramstad. My father and I got to say goodbye to him at a gathering at his home not long ago. As a reporter, my dad helped nickname the new lawmaker“The Rammer” and he was one of the most unforgettable people we ever covered.

My 87-year-old dad, Gene Lahammer, says in the passing of the trailblazing lawmaker 74-year-old Congressman Jim Ramstad, “Minnesota lost a rare person.” Gene covered Ramstad’s battle with alcoholism, recovery and bipartisan work for health care for addiction and mental health.

I had the joy of meeting and talking with Congressman Jim Ramstad in Washington DC and in Minnesota on numerous occasions and he was one of the kindest and most caring individuals I’d ever worked with in politics. My sincerest condolences to the family!

Rest in Peace Former Congressman Jim Ramstad. Honored to know him and sorry to hear of his passing. A great guy and public servant.

Congressman Ramstad loved to talk to the press. For decades my dad and I got to cover him. My father at the beginning of his career for the AP and I at the end for PBS. Before his passing Ramstad called us a “treasure to the state” for our work informing citizens.
