Jethro Cause of Death – Passed Away: Cornish comedian Jethro, whose real name was Geoffrey Rowe has tragically passed away. Jethro died as a result of complications from Covid-19. He was 73 years old. A statement shared on his Facebook page said he passed away on Tuesday, December 14th, 2021 after contracting COVID-19.
It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of the well known and popular Cornish comedian Jethro. Tragically Jethro passed away on 14th December 2021 after contracting COVID-19. Jethro leaves behind his life partner Jennie, sons Jesse and Lanyon, stepdaughter Sarah, daughter-in-law Stacey and of course his much-loved grandchildren. We ask that you respect our privacy at this very sad time and give us all time to grieve. We will continue to support each other in the knowledge that our lives will never be the same without him. Cornwall Hospice mourned the unexpected passing of a veteran Cornish comedian, Jethro in a statement shared on their Twitter page.
“We, like many other Cornish charities, are extremely sad to hear that comedian Jethro has passed away. He was a local legend who brought laughter to so many. His memories will live on & continue to bring joy. Our thoughts are with his family & friends at this very sad time.”
Jethro first appeared on television in 1990 on the Des O’Connor Show, and he later appeared on Jim Davidson’s shows. In 2001, he also appeared on the Royal Variety Show. He ran his own comedy club, which he closed down in 2012. Jethro was best known for his stand-up comedy, and he had previously stated that he would sell out 250,000 theatre seats per year. He recently announced that he would be retiring from live comedy.
“When I was a kid my dad and his mates loved Jethro. I vividly remember being 13 and standing at the living room door and watching a room full of them in fits of laughter at his stand up. It was HIS laugh that made it even funnier. I know he’s not PC but, man, he was funny.”
