Saddened by the passing of Jerry Ellig, a thoughtful regulatory economist who taught at GMU and GWU, worked for the Joint Economic Committee, and later became chief economist at the FCC. Jerry wrote on the theory of dynamic competition as well as the theory of the firm.
The passing of Jerry Ellig makes me very sad. A smart and engaged scholar, Jerry was also kind, thoughtful, and generous with his time. I will miss reading his work and seeing him at conferences. May he rest in peace. My condolences to Jerry‘s family and my @RegStudiesfriends.
Very sad to hear of Jerry Ellig‘s passing. I’ve known him for decades and always appreciated his engaging personality and great sense of humor. He made a huge contribution by helping to create the FCC’s new Office of Analytics and Economics.
RIP Jerry Ellig. He taught my graduate regulation class at @GeorgeMasonU. He was adept at taking the other side of his own actual position and arguing it effectively, and his standards of evidence for student papers was quite high. Great professor.
