Colors Agency joins the rest of the Memphis Arts community in mourning the sudden loss of Jerry Chipman over the weekend. Jerry was an amazing actor, both in front of the camera and on stage. Jerry’s passion for acting was evident from start to finish with the projects in which he was involved. His care and skill were apparent during the audition process – those same qualities led to Jerry being cast in many feature films and commercials. In the most notable of those films, 21 Grams and Boulevard, Jerry appeared opposite Naomi Watts and the late Robin Williams, respectively. Jerry Chipman was a consummate professional and a gentleman, he will be truly missed.
Please keep his husband, Emiliano, in your thoughts during this difficult time.
Goodness, I’m not sure where to begin. By now, many of you have already heard about the loss of one of our most beloved gym family members, Jerry Chipman, just ten days after his recent heart surgery. Words seem inadequate to convey how much this man meant to us and to his husband, Emiliano (our manager and resident love). Jerry and Emiliano are such major life and love forces at InsideOut. They opened their home for the last several years and insisted on hosting the gym Christmas party. Their backyard pool became the cool escape for scores of members the past several years. E. and Jerry were instrumental in rounding up over 40 members numerous times to attend dinners followed by shows at Theater Memphis together…and the list goes on. Jerry was the very definition of a gentle man. He was kind and patient, loving and attentive, and focused on making the world a better place. He is a Memphis Icon. I am proud to call him my friend, and as we all are, devastated by his absence. Help us hold Emiliano up through these next difficult days. Godspeed Jerry Chipman. We love you.
Jerry Chipman was royalty among theatre folk here in Memphis. With his invaluable contributions as an actor and director spanning decades with various arts groups in the area, including here at Playhouse on the Square and The Circuit Playhouse, Jerry will be truly missed.
His wit, knowledge, talent, and ability to create wonderful art, as well as his crucial work at St. Jude, inspired, influenced, and impacted so many of us who called him friend, worked with him, or saw his work onstage.
We at Playhouse on the Square send our love to Emiliano and all Jerry’s family, and extended arts family, honoring all that he has done for the Memphis community.
