Jayme Ekis, suspect identifies West Des Moines attempted murder

Jayme Ekis – The suspect and the person who they believe committed the attempted murder have both been recognized by the West Des Moines police. Police believe 42-year-old Chad Michael attempted to kill 41-year-old Jayme Ekis before he suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound. It took place on Monday afternoon within a townhouse that was located on Copper Drive.

Ekis was discovered by responding cops at the apartment with a gunshot wound to the head when they reached there. In addition, officers discovered Michael in front of the house with a gunshot wound, he had self-inflicted. According to the authorities, Michael passed away there. Ekis was taken by ambulance to a nearby medical facility, where she is being treated for life-threatening injuries.

A man from Creston has been charged with attempting to kill someone. Dakota Nordstrom, 30, of Creston, was taken into custody by detectives with the West Des Moines Police Department on Monday morning. He was charged with Attempted Murder, Willful Injury Causing Serious Injury, Going Armed with Intent, and Burglary 1st Degree. According to a press release that was issued by the West Des Moines Police Department, on Monday, December 5th, at approximately 5:30am, West Des Moines Police responded to a report of a person who had been stabbed in a vehicle outside of the Hy-Vee store that is located at 1725 Jordan Creek Parkway.

The victim was reported to have been in the parking lot of the Hy-Vee store. The accused suspect had already fled the scene by the time the officers arrived, so they were unable to apprehend him. A short time later police located a 37-year-old male victim at a local hospital, suffering from a stab wound to the leg. West Des Moines Detectives and the Crime Scene Identification Unit quickly began an investigation and processing the crime scene after receiving complete cooperation from Hy-Vee.

Both units were responsible for gathering evidence at the scene. The arrest of Nordstrom on the four charges took place about 10:00 in the morning and was made by West Des Moines Police Detectives. After being arrested on the accusations, Nordstrom was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Dallas County Jail.
