This departure was confirmed through social media posts made by Twitter users who pour out tributes, and condolences to the family of the deceased.
It’s with a heavy heart and great sadness that I write this post. I learned earlier today that a dear friend and an excellent political operative passed away yesterday evening. Co-Founder and President of the North County YIMBY club, James Contino was a tireless advocate for housing equality. He was also an amazing digital/social media strategist that worked hard to elect progressive candidates that shared his vision of ensuring that working families could afford to purchase a home in North County.
Beyond James advocacy and professionalism, he was an amazing friend that I could call anytime, day or night. I loved our conversations and that we challenged each other in our thoughts and ideas about affordable housing as well as housing and food insecurity. I’ll miss those interactions. Unfortunately, due to COVID, James and I had only seen each other in person a couple of times in recent months, but we spoke rather frequently and I valued him as a professional, an advocate and a friend.
I miss you James. Your passion, thoughtfulness and optimism will
be greatly missed by many. We must carry the torch in ensuring your dream – that housing is a human right and that we should all be able to afford at the very least a modest home.
My deepest and most sincere condolences to James family and friends. Rest in Peace my friend. Always in our hearts – never forgotten!
