ICREA researcher, Antoni Rosell i Melé dies on Dec. 11th

Antoni Rosell i Melé Death – Cause of Death – On Saturday, 11th of December, 2021, Antoni Rosell i Melé sadly passed away. Antoni was a researcher at the ICREA, deputy Director of the Institute of Environmental Science and Technology of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (ICTA-UAB), and Associate Professor at the BABVE of the UAB. Reports revealed that Antoni was a leading figure in the study of natural climate variability of the Earth climate and the impacts of anthropogenic activities in natural environments.

UAB said in a release that Antoni’s studies was a huge success and has contributed to increasing the importance of organic geochemical techniques for the reconstruction of past climates. He started his career at the J. Maxwell’s group where he worked as a post-doctoral researcher. He later joined the Bristol School of Chemistry and later, the Department of Fossil Fuels and Environmental Geochemistry at the University of Newcastle, England.

Reports mentioned that Antoni became a lecturer of the Department of Geography at Durham University, England in 1999. He joined the UAB and the ICTA-UAB as ICREA research professor in 2001. The cause of death was not mentioned to the public during the time of this publication. He will be greatly missed by his family and community. The funeral arrangements and obituary will be released by the family at a later time.
