Tributes To Ian Stowe

Across social media users’ timelines are statements that show respect, admiration, and gratitude towards Stowe as people mourn the passing.

The City of Richmond and our soccer family has suffered a terrible loss with the passing of Ian Stowe. My son had the pleasure of being on one of Ian’s teams a couple of years ago. When he found out that Ian would be his coach he referred to him as “Ian the Legend, that guy is sweet!” I am sure just like every kid Ian ever coached, Carson had a great time and learned some soccer skills along the way. What always stuck out to me the most about Ian was his genuine smile and kindness he showed towards all the people he interacted with, kids and parents alike. Somewhere in Heaven Ian is smiling down on us all telling us everything will be alright but for now it’s ok for all the kids, parents and colleagues of his to be sad about his passing. Please keep his loved ones in your thoughts and if you can spare any money at all to help out his family through this difficult time there is a go fund me set up to help with expenses. Ian the Legend, the world is a bit less bright without you in it but we are all better off for having known you.

We received devastating news yesterday! Evan’s soccer coach, Ian Stowe passed away unexpectedly. Evan is crushed, we all are!!

He was SO much more than a soccer coach! He truly believed in Evan and made a huge impact on him, on and off the field. Ian touched so many lives in the soccer community and on the fields of FC Richmond. He will never be forgotten! Please keep his wife and family in your prayers! Also pray for all of the young men, women, boys and girls who just can’t comprehend that he is gone. It’s going to be so hard on them but they will honor Ian in their own way.
Evan already put Coach Ian on his cleats and he and his teammates plan to honor him as they play in their 1st high school games tonight. Ian would be so proud of them and how they have all come together for each other.
Rest Easy Coach Ian! You will always hold a special place in my heart. Thank You for all you did for my boys

The impact a coach can have on the life of a child can be monumental. Often each season a new one will pass through your child’s life but there are some, a special few, who are there through it all.

We were blessed to meet Coach Ian Stowe early on in our days in Virginia. He soon became that coach who Alex wanted to move mountains for. From the time she was in 3rd grade he was a constant fixture in her soccer life and soon “Little Miller” was part of the mix as well.
He was tough, he was passionate and he made every kid feel as though they were super special to him – because they were.
Our hearts are heavy today as we learn he was taken too soon from us. I am so grateful he was at each of the girls games Saturday night giving them those last invaluable coachable moments. Thank you Coach Ian for not only believing in my girls but for making them believe in themselves. Your impact on their lives and mine is profound and will never be forgotten.
