Hugh Killen Death – Dead | Obituary – Passed Away

Hugh Killen Death – Dead: A great loss was made known to InsideEko. As friends and families of the deceased are mourning the passing of their loved and cherished Hugh Killen.

Having heard about this great loss, the family of this individual is passing through pains, mourning the unexpected passing of their beloved.

This departure was confirmed through social media posts made by Twitter users who pour out tributes, and condolences to the family of the deceased.

The community of St. Patrick’s Grammar School is saddened today to learn of the death of Mr. Hugh Killen, former staff member and father of Mrs Cora Magee, former staff member and Brendan, past pupil.
Hugh joined the teaching staff of St. Patrick’s in 1971 as a teacher of History. After a long and distinguished career where he became Head of Social Studies, Hugh retired from teaching and St. Patrick’s in 1999. He will be remembered by past Red High pupils as an outstanding teacher with a great love of History. He shared his vast knowledge of local history with annual trips to Dundrum and Clough castles, sometimes with a stop off at Granny Killen’s on the way home for a cup of tea!
In the staffroom, Hugh always had time for a chat and while he found common ground with all ages, he particularly enjoyed chat about poetry, sport and Irish music. He was always first to volunteer his services of bus driving on a night out – never complaining.
He will also be very fondly remembered by many as a wonderful basketball coach. Many hours were spent on basketball courts, coaching and practising skills and drills which brought many successes, both local and national. It is most fitting that Hugh, a calm and measured but passionate and inspirational coach, passed away on National Coaches Day.
We would like to offer our heartfelt condolences to Una, Siobhan, Brendan, Cora, Bronagh and Orla and the extended Killen family at this sad and difficult time. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam uasal. St. John Baptiste de la Salle pray for him. RIP Hugh

We are still working on getting more details about the death, as a family statement on the death is yet to be released.
