Heavy plumes of smoke in Upper East Side Fire

    Four injured in Upper East Side Fire outbreak

Officials are responding to a fire incident at an apartment building in the Upper East Side that left about four people injured Thursday afternoon.

The incident was reported to have broken out at approximately 3:19 p.m. on the 10th story of 311 East 72nd St., a 16-story building between First and Second avenues.

About eight dozen firefighters responded to the scene. Plumes of smoke into the neighborhood and residents were urged to keep openings and doors shot as officials battle to contain the outbreak.

At about 4:23 p.m, officials confirmed about three victims were being evaluated at the scene. This story will be updated.
