GoFundMe, Nicholls students killed in Chackbay DWI accident identified

18-year-old Michaila Bowling, 18-year-old Hali Coss, and 19-year-old Lily Dufrene, all from Luling, Louisiana, have been identified as the three Nicholls State University freshmen that lost their lives in a head-on collision that happened on Saturday night, November 20, 2021 in Chackbay, Lafourche Parish (Louisiana).

Preliminary investigation revealed that, happened on LA Hwy 20 in Chackbay when a vehicle driven by 39-year-old Joey Clement of Thibodaux collided head-on with the SUV the girls were travelling in which was driven by Dufrene. The impact of the collision caused both to burst into flames. The three girls were on their way home from Lily’s Birthday dinner.

The three occupants of the SUV were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. While Clement who displayed signs of impairment was apprehended and taken into custody for DWI fourth offense.

Bowling was nursing freshman, Coss was allied health sciences freshman while Dufrene was also nursing freshman.

A GoFundMe account has been launched by Taylor Robson to support the families of the three student killed with funeral expenses. According to the GoFundMe, “All three young ladies impacted everyone in the community and touched many peoples hearts. They will be truly missed”.
