While working on his first shift a young Georgia police officer was shot and killed. A manhunt is underway to track down and arrest the suspect believed to have shot and killed the cop leaving behind a wife and 6-month- old baby.
Georgia Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Natalie Ammons said at a press conference that 26 years old Dylan Harrison a part-time shift officer working his first shift with the Alamo Police Department was shot and killed around 1am. outside the police station.
Ammons said Officer Harrison was a part-time Alamo police officer working his first shift with the department last night.
No details have been released by the Officials about what led to the deadly shooting.
Harrison worked with Oconee Drug Task Force in 2018. Previously he also worked as an emergency dispatcher in his hometown, serve as a firefighter in Savannah, and was employed by the campus police department at Middle Georgia State University.
He was super nice to everyone, give you the shirt off his back no matter what. He was professional and dedicated his life to public service. Lisa Milks told WXIA-TV.
He left behind his wife and a their baby named Brody. They would have celebrated two years marriage anniversary in November.
Brian Kemp, Georgia Gov. offered his deepest condolences to Harrison’s family and the Alamo Police Department.
“Early this morning, one of our law enforcement officials in Middle Georgia was killed in the line of duty,” Kemp said on Saturday. “Our thoughts and prayers are with this officer’s family, friends, and colleagues at the Alamo Police Department. May God continue to be with all who protect and serve.”

The man, GBI believes to have shot and killed Harrison have been set on an underway manhunt. The GBI issued a blue alert for Damien Anthony Ferguson 43-year-old, also known as “Luke Ferguson.”
Ferguson spent more than seven years in prison after being convicted of charges including theft by taking and aggravated assault on an officer in Wheeler County. He was released from the Coffee Correctional Facility in August 2006, Georgia Department of Corrections records show.” Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
