Vale George Svinos.

HALC was sorry to hear that our long time and much loved member George Svinos passed away after a tough battle with cancer.

George personified the the spirit of HALC with his commitment to bettering his health even when his prognosis was pretty grim – training at 6:15am right up until we had to close.

HALC Health Club instructors Bob and Sharon payed their respects to George by simply describing him as a HALC legend.

Our thoughts are with his loved ones.

It is with great sadness that I learnt of the passing of my former colleague at KPMG Australia George Svinos who died yesterday at the age of 56 after a battle with cancer. Both George and I presented at KPMG’s (annual) retail seminars (late 2000s-early 2010s) which he organised in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane in his capacity as KPMG Partner Head of Retail. He advised many of Australia’s leading retailers in matters relating to strategy, markets and consumer behaviour. George was charming, knowledgeable, always impeccably dressed and exceptionally well connected. He will be sorely missed by the KPMG and wider business community. My condolences to his wife Mary and three children Tess, Manny and Dimitri.

The awpl family is deeply saddened by the passing of our Advisory Board Chairman, George Svinos. George had been the Chairman since 2009 and a dear friend of the company since our commencement.

Many of us had the privilege to have known him, worked with him and to learn from him.

George has been an integral part of awpl’s success. His talent, care for our business and meticulous commercial acumen were a key factor in shaping us into who we are today. George’s contribution to awpl has been invaluable, and his legacy will live on in our decision making.

Our thoughts and prayers are with him, and also with his wife Mary, Children Tess, Manny & Dimitri and his sister (& our colleague) Helen during this difficult time.

We are still working on getting more details about the death, as family statement on the death is yet to be released.
