I am posting today to pay tribute to a long time friend and colleague who was instrumental to be part of the Presbyterian Church of Vanuatu Prevention of Blindness Project 20 years ago now since the project started. Dr Genevieve Napper passed away yesterday after a long standing illness with cancer.
I pay tribute as one of my Tai (bro) in Melbourne posted and summarised – a teacher, mentor and colleague. A Vanuatu friend together with others like Dr Suit May Ho, and our Vanuatu project coordinator Don MacRaild In Melbourne having beautiful heart 💖 for our our country Vanuatu.
My first teacher who thought me to work with “astigmatism” working that evening at the northern district hospital (NDH) 19 years ago now.
Thank you for facilitating all volunteer Optometrists from the Australian Colllege of Optometry over many years who have come to help our people, people of Vanuatu …. they surely were bitten by the mosquitoes and continued to have the same heart as you to come when opportunities arises to expand the work of eye care in Vanuatu.
We salut you Genevieve 🙏🙏on behalf of Presbyterian Church of Vanuatu 🇻🇺 head office and from all staffs at the PCV Health department as well as all Vanuatu Government Health eye workers. Those I am sure will remember you very well.
Rest In Peace
