I regret very much to learn that former LPC chair Gene Norman has died. He was a staunch preservationist, the first African-American to serve as LPC chair (I believe), and appeared to be a very nice man.

Gene Norman, who helped save Broadway theaters as chairman of NYC’s Landmarks Preservation Commission in the 1980s, has died. Here is our obituary by @samrob12:
