Gene Felton Death – Dead | Gene Felton Obituary – Passed Away

Gene Felton Death – Dead: A great loss was made known to InsideEko. As friends and families of the deceased are mourning the passing of their loved and cherished Gene Felton.

This purple Chevy “Nova” will be seen throughout the motorsports internet today… Gene Felton died last night. “Icon” and “Legend” are way overused. Here’s a driver and personality truly worthy of those words. Gene was an influential star of early IMSA sports car racing. He won championships in many different classes, and also had numerous podiums in NASCAR. Atlanta-based, Gene was also a long-time member of Chin Track Days. One of the final times he was at the track was participating with Chin at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. What a privilege it was to share the track with this Legend of Motorsports. Drive well, Gene.

All of us at HSR send our sympathy and thoughts to the family and many friends of Gene Felton, but it’s only appropriate that this all-American racer would pass at the same time so many of his fellow competitors, peers and friends are racing at the Classic 24 At Daytona. We were honored at HSR to have had Gene race with us for so long and join us as the Grand Marshal of the 42nd HSR Mitty at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta in 2019. When the Classic 24 goes green for the sixth time Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m., we will dedicate the race to Gene and compete throughout the day and night in his honor. Rest in Peace Friend.

Sad news: Gene Felton has passed. Star @IMSA racer, teamed with Billy Hagan, Terry Labonte @Rolex24Hours, @24hoursoflemans. His Atlanta shop has restored many IMSA, Nascar cars for vintage racing.

1 of the last “drive it like you stole it” road racers, he gave his all every lap.

Never met the guy, but his name often popped up over the decades he was present in the motorsports world. RIP Gene Felton
