GBI investigate Henry County Police shooting in Panola Road

Investigations are active following an officer-involved shooting involving a Henry County police officer in Henry County Thursday afternoon.

According to Police in Henry County, the incident happened at about 1:10 p.m. at 1792 Panola Road, in Ellenwood at a shopping plaza that houses a Goodwill and Dollar General, in front of a Dollar General store.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has confirmed it has been called in to investigate the incident. “The scene has been secured and the area is safe,” police says.

It is not immediately known if the officer fired shots or if shots were fired at the officer. No injuries have been recorded in the incident, and no suspect information was immediately given. The Georgia Bureau of Investigations has been requested to investigate the shooting.
