Authorities have revealed the name of a victim who died Sunday, Oct. 3, on private property located off 103rd Street, east of 400th Avenue in Lakin Township, southeast of Hillman.
It happened that the victim was involved in an accident that occurred after a side-by-side all-terrain vehicle crashed near a cornfield.
Officials have the 9-year-old Hillman boy involved in the accident as Gage Beumer alongside a 10-year-old Hillman boy.
The 10-year-old Hillman boy was driving a Polaris side-by-side ATV along with Gage, who was a passenger. It is unclear why the 10-year-old boy lost control and the ATV eventually flipped, ejecting both the driver and passenger.
Gage was pronounced dead at the scene, but the 10-year-old whose name was not released was taken by a family member to St. Cloud Hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries and released.
The sheriff’s office reported neither boys were wearing their seat belts. This case continues to be under investigation.
