Fatal apartment shooting in Warsaw leaves two victims dead

Phillip Troublefield and Debbie Castillo Cortez Death – Cause of Death – 32-year-old Phillip Troublefield and 24-year-old Debbie Castillo Cortez, both of Warsaw, were identified as the victims killed a shooting at an apartment complex on Monday night, 22nd of November 2021. The police said the shooting happened at Tanglewood Apartments at the intersection of Yancey and Matthews street. Troublefield and Cortez were pronounced dead on the scene.

Reports says that there were 4 people in a vehicle and two other victims, who have not yet been identified, were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police said they do not believe this was a random act of violence and there is no ongoing threat to the public at this time. In review of police reports, stray bullets went through the windows and into the vinyl siding of several buildings in the complex.

Witnesses said the car with the two victims crashed into a parked car in the complex after shots were fired. The State Bureau of Investigation is assisting in the investigation. Warsaw police are asking anyone with additional information to contact the Warsaw police department at 910-293-7816.
