Fatal accident on I-75 north near state Route 725 claims two identified victims

Ruth S. Neikirk and William T. Maxson Death – Cause of Death – Ruth S. Neikirk, 74, of Lexington, Kentucky and William T. Maxson, 84, of Nicholasville, Kentucky was killed in a crash on Tuesday morning, 23rd of November 2021. The crash which took place around 10:30 a.m. involved a pickup truck and an Ohio Department of Transportation vehicle on I-75 north near the state Route 725 exit in Miami Twp.

According to police reports, William was traveling northbound on I-75 when he struck the ODOT truck northbound on I-75. Jessica A. Brown, 55, of Dayton was the driver of the ODOT vehicle. The ODOT vehicle was struck as it was towing an arrow board flashing sign while following behind a street sweeper on the shoulder. William had two passengers, Ruth and Mary B. Maxson, 83, of Nicholasville, Kentucky in the vehicle. Ruth and William were pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash.

Mary was transported to Miami Valley Hospital with serious injuries while Brown was taken to Miami Valley Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. OSHP says next of kin has been notified. News outlets says that there were two dogs that were rescued from inside the pickup truck. Both were taken from the scene by animal control officers. The crash remains under investigation.
