Family mourns the loss of Monique Brown Barrett

Monique Brown Barrett Cause of Death – Passed Away: 56-year-old Monique Brown-Barrett has passed away. Monique Brown-Barrett died on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Monique Brown-Barrett in Marrero, Louisiana to Malcolm J. Bordelon and Mary Tatum (Bordelon). Monique earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1988. In 1999, she earned her Juris Doctorate from Mississippi College School of Law in Jackson, Mississippi.

Monique was a member of the Mississippi Bar, the Capital Area Bar Association, and the Rankin County Bar Association, as well as the Spring Ridge United Methodist Church in Terry, Mississippi. She worked as a teacher in Catholic schools, the Jackson Public School District, and the Hinds County School District.

“Today isn’t a good one for me. I was just told that my sister Monique Brown-Barrett had lost her battle with Cancer this morning at 4:45 am. This is so hard for me. I lost my mom 2 years ago a day before Thanksgiving and now my sister a week before Thanksgiving. I know now like my Mom Monique is no longer in pain. She was always there for me if needed. and she helped me a lot when my mom passed. Just know Monique you will always be in my heart and I will think of you each and every day. RIP Monique Brown -Barrett.”

“This day was one of my favourite memories of my friend Monique Brown-Barrett. This was from 2018. She didn’t win the election but she made some great and lasting friends that she met while campaigning. This picture says it all. We had a blast!!!”

“It is with a heavy heart that I make this post. Our classmate and friend Monique Brown-Barrett passed away early this morning after a brief fight with cancer. There will be a memorial service this Saturday, November 20 in Byram(I believe). Those details will be posted as soon as they are available. Please pray for the family as this came out of nowhere and I know the family is hurting this day! May God shine his love and warmth in this time of mourning and grief.”
