Duma Nkosi Death, Former mayor of the Ekurhuleni dies at 64

Duma Nkosi Death – Cause of Death: GAUTENG — Former mayor of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality Duma Moses Nkosi has died. Duma Nkosi died on Thursday night, December 16th, 2021. He was 64 years old at the time of death.

Duma Moses Nkosi was born in Thokoza, Ekurhuleni, on June 7th, 1957. From 2001 to 2008, he was the executive mayor of Ekurhuleni. Lentheng Helen Mekgwe took over as his successor. Duma was also a member of the Gauteng legislature from 1994 until 2001.

Nkosi was called before the TRC in 1998 to seek amnesty for his involvement as chair of the local ANC in Thokoza (1990–1996), whose members were involved in the murder of a number of persons on February 22, 1990.

“It is with the heaviest of hearts that the Tambo Foundation has learnt of the passing of one of our founding trustees and beloved Chairperson, Mr Duma Moses Nkosi. Duma can only be described as a true servant of the South African people. May his gentle soul rest in eternal peace.”

The cause of his death is currently unknown to the public.
