Don Demeter of Oklahoma City, OK dies at 86

Don Demeter Cause of Death – Passed Away: 86-year-old Don L. Demeter, a native of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma passed away on Monday, November 29, 2021. Details of Don Demeter’s passing are not known at the time of this publication.

Lewis and Aileen Demeter gave birth to Don L. Demeter on June 25, 1935, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. In 1953, Don graduated from Capitol Hill High School. Don began his baseball career with the Brooklyn Dodgers after graduating from high school. He was a part of the Los Angeles Dodgers’ World Series-winning squad in 1959.

Don played for the Philadelphia Phillies, the Detroit Tigers, the Boston Red Sox, and the Cleveland Indians. In 1999, he was inducted into the Brooklyn Dodgers Hall of Fame, and in 2010, he was inducted into the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame.

“Groomed by the Dodgers to replace Duke Snyder as a star of the future, Don Demeter broke his wrist in 1960 and never lived up to expectations. But he had a fine career with four other teams. He has died at 86.”
