James Stapleton Obituary – Death: At the age of 49, Detective Sergeant James Stapleton died of cancer complications on Saturday, October 2.

Stapleton, who began his career as a uniformed patrol officer in the 6th and 5th precincts before being promoted to detective in May 2006, was sworn into the police academy in October 1995.
In 2019, he was promoted to sergeant and assigned to the 4th Precinct’s patrol, then to the Crime Section in July 2021.
He was recently promoted to Detective Sergeant of the Identification Section at the Yaphank Police Department.
The SOA mourns the loss of active member Detective Sergeant James Stapleton, who died on October 2 after a battle with cancer.
