Death – Irene Douglas of Canonsburg, PA, passed away at 61

Irene Douglas death – cause of death: Irene Douglas, 61-year-old, of Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 5, 2021. All Saints Greek Orthodox Church – Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, announced her passing on Facebook. The post read “It is with the deepest sorrow but hope in the Resurrection that I share with you the passing of our beloved sister in Christ and parish Youth Coordinator, Irene Douglas.”

She was born in Charleroi, on May 28, 1960, a beloved daughter of late Cono and Stella Pezzino. She graduated from Charleroi Area High School, class of 1978. She was married to her beloved husband Steve Douglas, for 37 years. They gave birth to three adorable and beloved children Sean (Reba) Douglas, Christopher (Amanda) Douglas and Matthew Douglas. She is the beloved sister of Mary Ann Papantonakis, and a grandmother of three, Briley, Ariella and Dawson.

She was the Youth Coordinator and GOYA advisor and a faithful member of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church in Canonsburg for 17 years. She was also a member of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Pittsburgh Youth Commission. She was a recipient of the 2015 St. Photios Award of Metropolis of Pittsburgh representing All Saints Greek Orthodox Church for her exceptional volunteer work.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 10, 2021, in the All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, 601 W. McMurray Road, with Father George Athanasiou, officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to GOYA of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, Canonsburg.
