Commissioner Daisy Lynum Death – Dead | Obituary – Passed Away
Daisy Lynum Death – Dead: A great loss was made known to InsideEko. As friends and families of the deceased are mourning the passing of their loved and cherished Daisy Lynum.
Saddened to learn about the passing of former City Commissioner Daisy Lynum. As one of the longest-tenured Commissioners in our city’s history, Commissioner Lynum served our community with dedication and passion. She fought hard every day for her district and its residents.
Her legacy lives on and can be seen throughout District 5 in buildings like the Amway Center, FAMU College of Law and CityView, but most importantly she will always be remembered for improving the quality of life for residents by championing educational, career training, housing, healthcare and economic development initiatives.
Today is a day that I will always remember. I am who I am because of this lady in these pictures. My love of politics came from my auntie, Commissioner Daisy Lynum, which started at the age of 12 and now look at me.
My summers were filled with Norman Rockwell puzzles, Two page reports over summer vacation at that and Entertaining the elite of elite within the Orlando Political arena.
You might not have liked her but you damn sure had to respect her.
The only person who would complement you and insult at the same time. Only she could it. Lol
Everyone was little girl or little boy. And so I do the same thing.
She is an absolute wonder and I am going to miss you Auntie Daisy, I love you to the moon and beyond.
She is District 5
Sending love and light to the family of Comissioner Daisy Lynum. My prayers are with the family during this time. Her legacy in the City of Orlando transcend her time on this earth. Let us all commit ourselves to service as she did.
Today, I was saddened to hear that former City Commissioner Daisy Lynum passed away. I would like to send my condolences to her family and those who loved her. The City of Orlando will truly miss the “daisy” in our community. For 16+ years Commissioner Lynum dedicated herself to the growth and advocacy of the the residents of District 5, and the people of Orlando. She was a trailblazer and advocate for inclusion and diversity for the African-American community in Education and Business here locally as well as the nation. She will be remembered in high esteem!
Rest In Peace Commissioner Daisy Lynum.
I knew Commissioner Daisy Lynum was a force to be reckoned with before I met her nearly two decades ago, but I wasn’t prepared for her unabashed directness. “Who are you? (looking me up and down) You’re with him? (pointing to the man-of-few-words she knew and whom I would later marry) Well, I’ll be damned.” Then, she turned away to speak to someone else. I was deflated, but admired her long career in public service. Daisy Lynum was a lightning rod, a proud woman (who dressed beautifully) and held her head high, and boy did she speak her mind. She was extremely controversial, but always a champion for her people, brave, outspoken and a devoted Democrat. She loved her family deeply, her friends and sorority sisters, her neighbors in Rock Lake and Orange County. After retirement, she battled health issues. Daisy Lynum has died at age 74. Deep sympathies to her family with special sentiments to her son Juan. RIP
Remember meeting Mrs. Daisy Lynum early on in my career… she told me I had that special something and to keep up the Great work. So privileged to have met her.. she was fiyahhh in every sense of the word. Sleep in Peace Commissioner!
