Coney Island man, shot to death near 113th Ave, Queens

Tyrek Townsend Death : Police in Queens are investigating a shooting incident Tuesday night that left a 37-year-old man dead. A suspect is being sought after in connection to the incident.

According to Queens police, the victim 37-year-old Tyrek Townsend had a history of drug arrests, was located shot to the upper torso near 113th Ave. and Linden Blvd. in South Ozone Park at approximately 10:05 p.m. Monday 13th Dec 2021. He was transported to the Jamaica hospital by responding officials.  He succumbed to his injuries sometime after.

Investigators disclosed that Townsend, who lived in Coney Island, was shot and injured near his home on Aug. 23, 2020, and about a month after, on Sept. 3, 2020, he was at the scene of a murder in the same area. That case is still being investigated by detectives from the 60th Precinct.

No possible suspect(s) information was immediately released.
