Carl Ahysen of Westwego dies in Jefferson Parish multi-car accident

Carl Ahysen Death – Cause of Death :  72-year-old Carl Ahysen of Westwego has died following injuries suffered from a five-car accident that happened on Wednesday evening, December 15, 2021. The multi-car accident that claimed the life of the Westwego man happened at approximately 6:30 p.m. on US 90B elevated expressway near LA 45 exit (Barataria Boulevard) in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana,

According to the Louisiana State Police, a 2012 Cadillac SRX was heading westbound on the elevated portion of US 90B in the exit lane to LA 45 when it rear-ended a 2017 Ford Fusion that was stopped in the exit lane to LA 45. The impact of the collision caused the Ford to rear-end a 2019 Jeep Renegade traveling in front of it.

Upon impact, both the Cadillac and Ford veered into the left and center lanes of US 90B west. At the same time,  a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee was driving in the left lane of US 90B west. As the Cherokee approached the Cadillac and Ford, the driver drifted to avoid colliding with the vehicles. The Cherokee then overturned onto its roof and slid to the westbound lanes of US 90B before crashing into a 2010 Hyundai Genesis that was parked in the exit lane to LA 45.

Following the collision, Ahysen who was a front-seat passenger of the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee sustained serious injuries and died at the scene of the crash.

It was not mentioned if any other injuries were recorded. However, an investigation into the cause of the collision is still ongoing by the Louisiana State Police Troop B. Anyone who may have witnessed the deadly collision is asked to call the Louisiana State Police – Troop B at (504) 471-2780

Never got to say goodbye. You’ve always been my greatest Uncle. I’ve always enjoyed going for no reason to eat with mom & dad at your and Aunt Debbie s house. Tears are falling, and soon will become a river bc life will never be the same for me, my daughter’s, my mom & dad without you in it. I can see you now in heaven listening to those ’50s and 60′ good ole Oldies! We are gonna miss you so much, I love you, Uncle! Mom and Dad are missing you now. You were Dad’s Best Friend, and I only hope he can overcome your loss! We love and Miss you Already, Dokey, Gladys, Bonnie, and Daughter’s!”. 

Carl Ahysen’s obituary will be released by the family.
