Calvin Clack, 34, has been identified as the driver who claimed the lives of two adults and a two-year-old girl after going the wrong way down a motorway.
Calvin has been tagged as a drug-using career criminal who veered down the wrong side of the Ipswich Motorway when he struck a vehicle very late on Wednesday night.
The three passengers which he had in the black Ford Focus he was driving were pronounced dead at the scene.
The other occupants were a 37-year-old woman, a 39-year-old man, and a two-year-old girl whose identity have not been released.
Calvin was thrown out of his vehicle due to the impact of the collision.
Traumatized paramedics who attended the roadside scene said there was nothing they could do to save the occupants inside the four-wheel drive.
According to the report, both cars involved in the accident caught fire. when the Queensland Ambulance Service arrived at the scene the three passengers were still trapped inside the car while it burned.
Horrifying footage from the crash site has revealed how the fiery inferno reduced the vehicles to blackened scraps of metal.
The electrician and father, Calvin Clack was said to have been in and out of jail and was known for using drugs., according to a man who knew him well.
The man told the press, “Huge user of ice and dealing and that sort of (thing).
“It’s sad. He was a good fella but had a terrible addiction.”
Queensland Police are currently investigating whether Mr. Clack was under the influence of drugs when he was behind the wheel on Wednesday.
David Hartley, Queensland Ambulance Service Acting Assistant Commissioner sympathized with the family of the deceased.
“Unfortunately due to the scene and the nature of the injuries there were very few paramedics could do when they were faced with that terrible scene,” he said.
“Our paramedics are very resilient people but they have been faced with a very traumatic set of circumstances, and we have very good mechanisms in place to support our staff.”
