Very sorry to hear of the passing of Brian Latuch. He was a great person, a great friend, and a great racer. A friend to many gone too soon.
Brian and I are seen below in the pits at Volusia Speedway, Florida in the winter of 1992 working with Robbie Crouch.
He called me Richard and I called him Enos, but I was most proud to call him a friend.
We raced against each other and with each other in New England and Eastern Canada for many years.
He came to Ontario in the summer of 2008 to help me with our NASCAR Canada program. At Kawartha Speedway one day I came on the radio and told him the car was pretty tight (not turning well). He could sense the frustration in my voice. His calm reply was “Keep diggin’ Richard. We’ll get you fixed up on the next yellow!” Most of my Ontario crew at the time had never heard me called Richard before and the phrase instantly became a mainstay.
We spoke a couple weeks ago and I reminded him to “Keep diggin’ Enos!” I’m glad he did.
I’m sad beyond words to hear my dear friend Brian Latuch has left us . RIp Brian. We shared more than a love of race cars, he was around as a teenager when I was a struggling racer. He worked hard and always kept digging. What a treasure. I can’t tell you how thankful I am to have had him in my life.
Last summer I had the opportunity to take pictures for Speedway Children’s Charities at NHMS. Over the whole weekend I took thousands of pictures but these were some of my favorites because of the people in them. Brian Latuch was an amazing man filled with so much energy, happiness, and so much knowledge about various racecars. I always looked forward to seeing him at the track. He will be so missed by so many! Godspeed Brian
Very sad to hear of the passing of Brian Latuch this morning. I worked with him on the GRIZCO Race team for many years. He was a great person and knew everything about racing! A friend to all. He was pretty amazing and will be greatly missed.
