Brett Diederichs, 36, killed in B.C. mudslide

Brett Diederichs Death – Cause of Death – 36 year old Brett Diederichs was found dead after being swept away in landslide that destroyed part of Highway 99. Family members have described Brett, a trained paramedic and well-known figure in Toronto’s restaurant scene, as the fifth person to be killed by a landslide. The incident happened on the 15th of November 2021 in an area of B.C.’s Highway 99 known as the Duffey Lake Road.

Police report revealed that Diederichs was standing on the main highway outside of Lillooet, B.C., with his mother when he realized a mudslide was quickly moving down the hill above them. Reports says that he quickly shouted to alert his mother but unfortunately Brett was killed in the incident. According to news outlets, the hillside slipped away during one of the worst rainstorm, sending a rush of mud and debris straight into the cars and people on the road below.
