Dr. Beverly Washington Jones transitioned from this life on Sunday, July 19, 2020. Dr. Jones was my sorority sister and former supervisor. I met Dr. Jones while living in Durham, North Carolina. Dr. Jones created the Weekend College Program at North Carolina Central University-her undergraduate Alma Mater. She was the first African American to graduate from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill with a doctorate in History. She loved Key Lime Pie. I won’t forget the sisterhood, friendship or smile. Your husband and children have my deepest sympathy. Thank you for hiring me and making me feel welcomed for my first southern living experience.
