Carole Marfell Missing: Deputies are still looking for a missing woman from Nelson.
According to the report reaching us at this time, Police in Nelson have concerns for the safety of a middle-aged woman reported missing on Saturday as a police search has come up unsuccessful after an unconfirmed sighting of the woman.
The Police are growing increasingly worried for her welfare after the 50-year-old woman has not been found, Carole Marfell has been missing since Friday November 26, 2021. She went missing from her Nelson home.
On Saturday, 27 November. the police received a sighting of Marfell that was not confirmed at the Rabbit Island reserve area. The search and rescue teams stormed the area and completed a search of the area on Saturday night and Monday morning but they found nothing.
The police said that the 50-year-old woman lives in the Brook, but could be anywhere in Nelson. They also said she is known to visit areas where there is water, like beaches frequently. Carole is described by the police as being a white female, who is 170cm tall.
Earlier in 2020, Carole Marfell spoke of her concern for public safety when she found out the man who attacked her in 2004 had cut off his electronic-monitoring anklet and disappeared.
September 1, 2004, Carole was attacked and robbed at an ATM in Christchurch. In 2020 she said in a news release about her concerns for public safety after finding out her attacker, who at the time was serving a sentence of home detention for other offending, had cut off his electronic-monitoring anklet and disappeared.
Carole said at the time she struggled to sleep and experienced “quite bad flashbacks” when she heard he was on the run. She said “I don’t know how to cope with the hell I live with and am going through now. My concern is public safety and, given that he is a recidivist offender, he has the capacity for violent offending”.
Police are asking for the public’s help to locate Marfell, and for anyone who has seen her or has any information as to her whereabouts, to please call 111 and quote file number 211127/3292. Thank You.
