Paulding man seriously injured in accident involving school bus

At least one person has been injured following a car accident that involved a school bus on Thursday night, December 16, around 7:13 p.m. The officials identified the victim that got injuries as Toby Miller, 72, of Paulding, Ohio.

The preliminary investigation stated that a 2016 Hyundai Elantra driven by Miller was traveling east on the intersection of S.R. 1 and S.R. 8. when his vehicle was hit by a southbound school bus driven by Steven Hathaway, 64, of Woodburn. It was revealed that the school bus driver failed to yield the right way before the crash.

The Hyundai was badly damaged, the driver got a possible shoulder and collar bone injury, and was rushed to Parkview DeKalb Hospital for the treatment of his injuries. Eight members of the Woodlan High School wrestling team and its coach were on the school bus during the crash. It was stated that none of them sustained injuries.

The sheriff’s department was assisted on scene by Concord Fire, Spencerville Fire, Riverside Towing, Robinson Towing, and Parkview EMS.

The crash remains under investigation.
