Sgt. David Cooney of Danbury police dies of cancer at 45

Sgt. David Cooney Death – Cause of Death – Danbury police sergeant, David Cooney passed away at the age of 45 after a lengthy cancer battle. Reports says that Sgt. David Cooney died on Sunday night, 28th of November 2021. Sgt. David was a 20-year veteran with the Danbury Police Detective. The force described him as “loved and highly respected by those who knew him.”

Sgt. David recently worked as a supervisor of the Crime Scene Unit, administrator for the department’s records management system and liaison to several external agencies. He also previously served as president of the police union for Danbury officers.

Chief Patrick Ridenhour said in tribute; “Dave will always be remembered for his dedicated service to the department and the city, and for his great sense of humor. He will be sorely missed.”
