Woman killed in a fatal three-vehicle accident

On Sunday, December 19, 2021, at approximately 8:55 a.m., one person was reported dead following a fatal three-vehicle accident on US-20, near milepost 317, west of Rigby.

The initial investigation stated that a 26-year-old Rexburg, Idaho woman was operating a 2007 Ford Fusion eastbound on US-20, she refused to slow for traffic when her vehicle rear-ended a 2014 Honda Civic driven by a 54-year-old Rigby, Idaho woman. The force of the crash pushed the Honda to crash with a 2018 Toyota 4Runner driven by a 64-year-old Telluride, Colorado man.

The Honda driver who was wearing a seatbelt during the time of the accident lost her life at the scene. Her identity was not immediately released by the officials pending the notification of next of kin.

Authorities revealed that other victims of the crash were wearing a seat belt during the time of the accident. The health state of other victims of the crash was not released by the officials.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the Authorities.
