Popular businessman and owner of Signal Brewery, Richard Courneyea has passed away

Richard Courneyea Death – Cause of Death – Richard Courneyea, a well-known businessman and resident in Belleville, has sadly passed away on the 15th of December 2021. The news about the death of Courneyea was confirmed by his family on Wednesday (December 15th). Courneyea was the owner of Signal Brewery. He was a very popular businessman who established numerous ventures including the Richard Davis menswear in downtown Belleville, the Signal Brewery and Henry’s Place.

Courneyea was the president of the Belleville Chamber of Commerce. He served as the chair of the BDIA, the chair of Belleville City’s Facade Improvement Committee and was also the president of Bay of Quinte Tourism. He served as the president of the Belleville Chamber of Commerce and vice-chair of the Agricultural Society, among other numerous and prestigious positions.

The cause of death has not been confirmed at the moment. News outlets disclosed that Courneyea had been battling COVID-19, and was admitted to the ICU in Kingston last week. The funeral arrangements and obituary will be released by the family at a later date.

City of Belleville said in a tweet; “City Hall | It is with great sadness that Mayor Panciuk, Council and staff have learned of the passing of well-known businessman and Belleville resident Richard Courneyea. The flag at City Hall has been lowered until Friday in honour of Richard.”
