Teen, 15, shot dead at ride-share in Heart of Chicago ID’d

Matthew Miller Death : 15-year-old Matthew Miller, of Burbank, has been identified Thursday by Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office as the victim of a Wednesday fatal shooting in a ride-share in the Heart of Chicago neighborhood.

Authorities say the teenager at about 6:35 p.m., waiting for a ride-share in the 2500 block of South Blue Island Avenue when an unknown suspect came out of a car and started a conversation with the teen before opening fire, fatally striking Miller.

The teen was transported to Stroger Hospital where was pronounced dead. Officials say a man was shot and injured just a few blocks away in the 2500 block of South Oakley Avenue, police said. Responding officers say a 20-year-old sustained a gunshot wound to the face, lower back, and abdomen.

He went to Stroger Hospital where he was listed in critical condition, police said. No suspect information was immediately released.
