1 killed in north of Ridge Spring solo-car accident

Driver killed in solo-car accident on State Highway 39 in Saluda County 

A yet-to-be-identified individual has died following injuries suffered from a single-car accident that happened on Monday morning, December 13, 2021. The crash occurred at approximately 8:30 a.m. on State Highway 39 near Murphy Farm Road, north of Ridge Spring in Saluda County, South Carolina.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol the individual was driving a 2002 Ford Econoline van southbound on State Highway 39 when the car exited the roadway, crossed the centreline struck a ditch followed by a tree before flipping over. The driver sustained serious serious injuries and was airlifted by helicopter to an area hospital for treatment. the driver was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The individual identity will be released pending next of kin notification. The crash remains under investigation.
